Major ups to the Solvang Chamber of Commerce for arranging such a wonderful day today, the arrival day for most people. Epic conditions, cool but not too cool, a blue bird day out there. This is what the last week was supposed to be but I am sure am glad it was saved for Vision Quest. Its time to ride!!
When I hear the comment "Look at those turkeys on the road" I think motorists, cyclists, a host of things. Rarely if ever do I think actual turkeys...until today..."Look at those turkeys on the road!"
So there are good and bad about getting here early. The good is I get to spend some quality time with my wife basically driving around eating and drinking wine. The bad thing is that everything outside the time with my wife is adding girth to my body in advance of the camp. I guess its a good way to lose some weight during ca… Continue
My wife Stacy and I are here early to see a bit of the Tour of California and enjoy a little time before our 15th wedding anniversary on the 28th. I'll be suffering on some crazy ride.. so glad I have a supportive wife. Dinner and wine at Los Olivos Cafe tonight, try it if you get a chnace during camp. More wine and the Tour tomorrow. See you all soon. Damp and dreary today, hope for better weather.

Rod ... tough decision not to go. I really missed it? How did compare to last year? I heard the routes changed a bit to accomodate more power riders. Talk to you soon. Berger
Hey Rod,
My two sons in the photo are the product of 30 years of marriage to my husband, Jim. Congratulations to you and Stacy on your 15 year anniversary! You are beating the odds and my best wishes to you both for many more good years going forward with your family and your cycling. Thanks for the opportunity to work with you and the great people at Davids World. Will send you a separate email about my VQ progress.
Rod! I'm so glad you guys are there. Is the whole "19" crew with you? I wanted to be there, believe me but after the knee thing and 38 days off the bike in December and January, I wouldn't have been able to keep up with you boys on Fig. Make sure to meet Bob Loeschorn, my neighbor and fellow VQ'er. He's the 6'4" dude with the distinguished gray hair. Great guy. I heard RV had the helmet cam this year. OK. Have fun on Fig today. 1:07 is your target. Say hi to the boys.

Great pictures from last year's camp. Look forward to seeing you again (since El Tour last year).
Have fun at the Tour!
